NEW ORLEANS – Both the HBU men's and women's track and field programs, as well as three individuals earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors, the organization announced Thursday.
The women's team posted a 3.34 combined team GPA, while the men's earned a 3.21 GPA. To qualify for All-Academic Team honors, a team must have a combined 3.0 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.

Scott Boon each earned All-Academic individual honors. Individuals must have at least a 3.25 GPA and rank among the Top 96 nationally in a championship individual event or in the Top 48 nationally in a championship relay event.
Smith recorded a 4.0 GPA in the spring as a kinesiology and wellness management major. The Wailuku, Hawai'i native was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team for a second-straight year and was voted HBU's Jan Edds Female Athlete of the Year. Smith captured the gold medal in the pentathlon at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships, breaking the program record with 3,896 points to tie for 38
th nationally.
Hall posted a 3.67 GPA in the spring in his psychology Master's degree program. The Portland, Texas, native claimed the silver medal in the pole vault at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships with a mark of 5.06 meters (16 feet, 7.25 inches) to tie for 89
th nationally.
Boon earned a 4.0 GPA in the spring as an international business major. The Dronten, Netherlands, native won the silver medal in the heptathlon at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships with a total of 5,286 points to rank 49
th nationally.
