WBB: Huskies Sign Linda Brückner

Forward from Germany one of three to sign with Huskies Friday

HOUSTON – HBU women's basketball has signed Linda Brückner to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Donna Finnie announced, along with two other signings, Friday.Linda Bruckner

"Linda can score!" Finnie said. "She can score inside and out and runs the floor extremely well. In talking with some coaches I know well in Germany, we talked about her transition to the collegiate game being easier, because of her mobility and athleticism. The fact that she can shoot the three so well will help her in our offense. She is a very mature young lady with a fantastic work ethic and we have loved getting to know her. Linda is also a very good student and will be a big part of the campus community at HBU."

Brückner is a 6-0 forward from Meersbusch, Germany. She played for coach Nicola Happel at Schloss Hagerhof in Bad Honnef. She helped lead her team to the German Championship in 2017 and 2019 and finished third in 2018. Brückner also played club basketball for Coach Happel with Dragons Rhöndorf.

"I am so happy to be signing with HBU," Brückner said. "When I came to visit the campus, I knew that this was the place I wanted to be. I love everything: the people, the campus, my new team and coaches. I am so happy to start my career as a Husky!"

"I was very happy when I saw that Linda was signing with HBU," Happel said. "She has developed her game a lot the last two years with hard work and dedication. I am very proud of her. In all the years I have had the pleasure of coaching her, she not only led the team in scoring, but was a great team leader and teammate. She is so valuable because of her versatility to play inside and out. As her long-time coach, I can't wait to see her stepping out on court in Houston. The Dragons family wishes her all the best at HBU!"

Along with Naomi Pierce and Armani Reed, who signed during the early period in November, and the signings of Enya Maguire and Annabel Deerbon, who were also announced today, the Huskies will have five freshmen joining the team for the 2020-21 season.
