RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Cal Baptist took advantage of a couple of HBU errors to break a scoreless tie with a four-run fourth, as the Lancers went on to an 8-2 victory to clinch the non-conference baseball series Saturday afternoon at Totman Stadium.
Junior designated hitter
Todd Jackson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Huskies, while senior shortstop
Nathan Soriano went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Huskies (2-9).
Senior righthander
Kyle Gruller (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits with nine strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
Nick Plaia went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and scored twice and Chad Castillo went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and scored a run. Rory Smith was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a run for the Lancers (4-5).
Chris Burica (1-1) earned the win, holding HBU to two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks in six innings.
The series concludes with the finale Sunday at 1 p.m. CST.
