BSB: HBU Stifled By #13 Texas A&M, 4-0

Huskies outhit Aggies, but strand 11

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - HBU outhit 13th-ranked Texas A&M, but left 11 runners on base as the Aggies claimed a 4-0 victory over the Huskies in non-conference baseball Tuesday night at Blue Bell Park.

Junior catcher Todd Jackson went 3-for-4, while junior third baseman Jake Miller went 2-for-4 and has reached safely in eight-straight games for the Huskies (2-7).

Junior lefthander Austin Spinney (0-3) took the loss for HBU, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in three innings. Junior Dylan Murphy was outstanding in relief, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Logan Sartori and Zach DeLoach each went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Texas A&M (9-0). Ray Alejo was 1-for-3 and scored twice, while Mikey Hoehner and Ty Coleman each had an RBI single.

Aggie starter Dustin Saenz shut the Huskies out on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks in four innings, but Jake Nelson (1-0) received the decision, tossing two perfect innings and striking out three.

The first two runners reached safely in the first for HBU, as senior leftfielder Ryne Edmondson singled and senior second baseman Trent Franson laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached safely as Edmondson beat the throw to second. The rally died, however, when senior first baseman Johnny Gonzales ripped a line drive to third and Edmondson was doubled off second.

HBU loaded the bases with no outs in the second, then Saenz struck out the side. The Huskies loaded the bases again in the third, but were unable to score.

Hoehner and Coleman each had RBI singles in the second to put the Aggies ahead, 2-0, and they would tack on single runs in the third and sixth.

The Huskies return to action when they travel to face Cal Baptist in a three-game series Friday through Sunday in Riverside, California.
