LUBBOCK, Texas - Trailing, 5-3, Northern Colorado rallied for five runs in the sixth inning en route to a 12-5 victory over HBU Sunday at Dan Law Field.
Junior leftfielder
Christian Dumont went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, an RBI and two runs, while senior first baseman
Johnny Gonzales went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the Huskies (0-4). Senior designated hitter
Ryne Edmondson was 2-for-4 with a double, and RBI and a run, while senior rightfielder
Brandon Bena and senior second baseman
Trent Franson each had two hits.
Jake Gitter was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs, while Billy Moreland was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs for the Bears (2-1). Garrett Fisher and Josh Glenn each drove in a pair of runs.
Junior lefthander
Austin Spinney took the loss for HBU, allowing seven runs on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks in 5.1 innings.
Ashton Mansur earned the win in relief for UNC, holding HBU scoreless on five hits with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Starter Dylan Bowers gave up five runs, two earned, on nine hits in 3.2 innings.
The Huskies return to action when they face Texas State in the home opener Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Husky Field.
