MANHATTAN, Kan. – In the first indoor track & field action of the season on Friday, senior
Kaitlin Smith placed fourth overall and was the top collegiate finisher at the Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon hosted by Kansas State.
Smith opened the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07 to win her heat and pick up 897 points. She then cleared 1.55m/5-1.0 in the high jump for 678 points before adding 557 in the shot put with a top distance of 10.42m/34-2.25. Next up, in the long jump, the senior picked up 688 points with a leap of 5.46m/17-11.0 before closing things out with a time of 2:32.51 in the 800 meters for 662 points.
Smith totaled 3,482 points and finished ahead of the other collegiate competitor, Kansas State's Urte Bacianskaite, by more than 600 points.
