2019-20 HBU Women's Basketball Schedule
HOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball schedule is highlighted by a road trip to defending national champion Baylor ahead of the newly-expanded 20-game Southland Conference schedule, Head Coach
Donna Finnie announced Thursday.
"Every year we talk about putting together a challenging non-conference schedule and this year is no different, as we have six very tough road games, which includes the defending national champion Baylor Lady Bears," Finnie said. "With seven newcomers this year, we wanted to really prepare them for being on the road in the Southland Conference and I think Coach Becca (Allison) did a great job at scheduling to meet that need."
The Huskies will start the season with back-to-back home games, first hosting LSU Shreveport in the opener on Tuesday, Nov. 5, followed by Paul Quinn on Nov. 12. HBU will then play four-straight on the road, beginning with Baylor (Nov. 14), followed by a trip across town to Houston (Nov. 17), then onto Oral Roberts (Nov. 25) and Wichita State (Nov. 26). The Huskies return home to face Northern Arizona (Dec. 1), before wrapping up the non-conference slate on the road against ULM (Dec. 7) and Texas Tech (Dec. 15).
"Opening at home on Nov. 5 will give our fans the chance to see some of our new faces in Sharp Gym, but we hope our supporters will come out and support us as we face cross-town rival Houston and, of course, make the short drive to Waco on Nov. 14 when we take on the Lady Bears," Finnie said.
HBU begins Southland play at home against Stephen F. Austin (Dec. 18) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 21), followed by a three-game road swing, starting with a New Year's Day matchup at Central Arkansas, then Northwestern State (Jan. 4) and Lamar (Jan. 11). The Huskies come home to take on Sam Houston State (Jan. 18) and Nicholls (Jan. 22), then close out January on the road against McNeese (Jan. 25) and Incarnate Word (Jan. 29).
The Huskies will be home four of the five Saturdays in February, starting with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 1). HBU goes to New Orleans (Feb. 5), come back home to host Northwestern State (Feb. 8), then are back on the road at defending conference champion Abilene Christian (Feb. 12). The Huskies have back-to-back home games when they welcome Lamar (Feb. 15) and ACU (Feb. 19). The schedule events out with back-to-back road games at Sam Houston State (Feb. 22) and Nicholls (Feb. 26). HBU will then have two more at home against McNeese (Feb. 29) and Incarnate Word (March 4), before closing out the season on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
HBU returns eight letterwinners, including seniors

Shannon Jones and fourth-year juniors Syndey Carr and
