Theresa Fuqua, HBU's Director of Track & Field/Cross Country, has added 18 newcomers to the Huskies' program for the upcoming 2019-20 year.
Hudson Hall, a native of Victoria, Texas, will join the Huskies as a graduate transfer. Hall has spent the last two seasons at Texas A&M-Commerce where has earned multiple All-American honors in the pole vault. He owns a personal record of 5.15m/16-10.75. He spent his freshman season at Liberty.
Originally from Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, Ben Drew is a transfer from Azusa Pacific where he placed eighth in the PacWest Conference Cross Country Championships with a time of 25:22 in the 8k race as a freshman.
The Huskies' third transfer joining the program is Laban Kandie, a junior from Iten, Kenya who has run at Angelo State and Wylie College. While at Wylie he won conference championships in the 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. He holds a PR of 15:10 in the 5,000 and 19:26 in the four mile.
Nyla Barlow, a sprinter from George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas, will join the Huskies after winning the District 23-6A championship in the 200 meter dash and finishing second at the area meet. Barlow owns a PR of 12.03 in the 100 meter dash and 24.45 in the 200m.
On the men's side, Zacorius Baldwin is a sprinter from Cypress, Texas and Cypress Ranch High School. He holds PRs of 10.70 in the 100m and 21.76 in the 200m.
From Oranienburg, Germany, Noa Grochowski will compete in jumps and multis for the Huskies. Grochowski comes in with a PR of 12.10m/39-8.50 in the triple jump, which would have ranked in the top 10 in the Southland Conference last season.
Also competing in both the multis and jumps will be Grace Perez from Tomball Memorial High School in Tomball, Texas. Perez boasts a PR of 5.56m/18-3.0 in the long and a top time of 12.12 in the 100m.
Tasheba Pleasant, from Irving MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas, will compete in jumps for the Huskies. She was the District 6-6A runner up in the triple jump and also earned runner up at the area meet. Pleasant comes in with PRs of 5.53m/18-2.0 in the long jump and 11.93m/39-2.0 in the triple jump.
Robert West, from Pearland, Texas and Pearland High School, earned a runner-up finish in the long jump at the District 23-6A meet as a junior. He brings a PR of 7.06m/23-2.0 in the long jump.
Isaiah Price, from Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, is a distance runner who won the District 8-6A cross country championship and also picked up wins in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters on the track. He holds a PR of 15:37 in the 5,000m.
Nate Allen, from Logos Preparatory Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, placed eighth in the 2018 TAPPS State Cross Country Championship as a senior. He placed fifth in the 800 meters and also earned third in the pole vault at the TAPPS state meet.
Justice Artisst, from Pearland, Texas and Dawson High School, holds a PR of 16:18 in the 5,000m on the track and also set new PRs in the 1,500m and 3,000m as a senior.
From Brenham, Texas and Brenham High School, Bryson Gully will add depth to the Huskies' middle distance runners after winning the District 19-20 Area Meet in the 800m as a senior.
Vania Ortiz Marquez, from Clements High School in Sugar Land, will compete in middle distance for the Huskies. She holds a PR of 4:51 in the 1,500m and was a member of the District 20-6A championship team.
Zara Richardson, from Veterans Memorial High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, will add depth to the women's middle distance program, coming in with a PR of 2:16.93 in the 800m.
Yvonne Chepkorir, from Kaptagat-Eldoret, Kenya, will be a distance runner with a PR of sub 17:00 in the 5,000m.
Victoria Herpin, from Dawson High School in Pearland, will compete in the throws with a PR of 38.70m/127-0 in the discus throw.
Makayla Byas will also join the Huskies in throws, coming to HBU from Cibolo Steele High School in Schertz, Texas.
