Tay Nance picked up the first point of the meet for the HBU track & field program on day one of the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships and freshman
Scott Boon is in third place halfway through the decathlon at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.
Freshman
Scott Boon stands in third in the decathlon through five events with a point total of 3,788 and finished no worse than sixth in any of the day's events. He opened the day by picking up 825 points in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.16. He then added 826 points with a mark of 7.05m/23-1.75 in the long jump and set a new PR in the 400 meters with a time of 49.82 for 823 points.
In the heptathlon,
Kaitlin Smith is fifth with 2,988 points. She scored 960 points in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.13, placing third, and also added 750 points in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 26.55.
Tay Nance picked up a point for the Huskies in the long jump, placing eighth with a leap of 5.70m/18-8.50.
Christopher Welch finished ninth in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.91m/22-8.0 with
Michael Anderson coming in 10
th, posting top distance of 6.79m/22-3.50.
Day two of the championships begins Saturday, May 4, morning at 9:00 a.m.
