Tay Nance concluded her decorated career while
Denim Rogers and
Garrett Gibson made their first appearances at an NCAA postseason meet over the past three days at the NCAA West Prelims held at Hornet Stadium on the Sacramento State campus.
For Nance, a senior, Saturday marked her fourth appearance in the NCAA postseason competing in the triple jump. Competing in flight three of four, she posted a top distance of 12.60m/41-4.25 on her first of three attempts to place 22
nd out of 48 competitors. That marks the best finish of her career at the meet.
Gibson, meanwhile, qualified as a freshman in the 400 meter hurdles and took 33
rd out of 48 runners. The freshman posted a time of 52.28, less than two-tenths of a second off his program record time of 52.11 set at the Southland Conference Championships.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Rogers nearly matched his PR of 14.29 with a mark of 14.33 while placing sixth in his heat. The sophomore finished with the 37
th-fastest time of the 48 qualifiers at the meet.
Rogers already qualified for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the decathlon and will represent HBU at the meet being held in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6.
