BSB: McNeese Evens Series With Win Over HBU

Senior CF Anthony Jones goes 4-for-4, homers twice for Huskies



HOUSTON - McNeese took advantage of free passes, scoring five in the fifth and seven in the seventh for a 16-6 victory over HBU in the second game of the Southland Conference series Friday afternoon at Husky Field.

Saturday's finale has been moved up to a noon start, due to the threat of rain, with the Senior Day ceremony is slated for 11:45 a.m.

Senior centerfielder Anthony Jones went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBIs and scored three times, while junior shortstop Nathan Soriano went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run for the Huskies (18-34, 10-19 SLC). Junior leftfielder Ryne Edmondson went 2-for-4, senior catcher Erik Voller homered to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and junior second baseman Trent Franson doubled to extend his reaching safely streak to 29 games.

Senior Daniel Endsley (1-5) took the loss, allowing eight runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks in four innings. Four other HBU pitchers combined to walk seven batters.

Carson Maxwell went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, six RBIs and scored twice, while Clayton Rasbeary went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and scored three times for the Cowboys (30-24, 15-14). Nate Fisbeck was 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs, Shane Selmon went 2-for-6 with a double, an RBI and scored twice, Jake Dickerson scored three times and Payton Harden scored twice.

Aiden Anderson (5-6) picked up the win, allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in five innings for McNeese.

Fisbeck and Voller traded solo home runs for a 1-1 score after three, but McNeese scored eight unanswered runs, then put the game away with the seventh-inning rally.
