Junior first baseman
Johnny Gonzales is hitting .292 with nine doubles, three home runs, three triples, 17 RBIs and 19 runs, while junior rightfielder
Brandon Bena has an 11-game hitting streak and has raised his average to .288 with eight doubles, a home run, 15 RBIs and 19 runs for the Huskies (9-22). Junior third baseman
Trent Franson is hitting .271 with eight doubles, a triple, six RBIs and a team-leading 22 runs and senior catcher
Erik Voller is hitting .260 with six doubles, two home runs, 16 RBIs and 12 runs. Junior centerfielder
Chase Talbot leads HBU with four homers and has 16 RBIs.
Freshman righthander
Chris Burns is expected to make his first career start and has a 0-0 record with a 4.05 ERA in five appearances this season.
Andy Atwood is hitting .320 with four doubles, a triple, two home runs, 11 RBIs and 25 runs, while Anthony Gomez is hitting .317 with seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 29 RBIs and 17 runs for UTRGV (20-11). Conrado Diaz is batting .291 with eight doubles, 12 RBIs and 17 runs, while Christian Sepulveda and Coleman Grubbs each have two home runs.
Righthander Case Adams is likely to start for the Vaqueros, posting a 1-1 record with a 3.63 ERA in 11 appearances and four starts this year.
The Vaqueros claimed the first meeting between the two teams, 6-0, back on Feb. 19 in Edinburg.
The Huskies return to Southland Conference play when they host Abilene Christian in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
