NEW ORLEANS - Tulane tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, then Grant Mathews delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th as the Green Wave outlasted HBU, 3-2, in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Junior second baseman 
Nathan Soriano went 3-for-4 with a double and junior third baseman 
Trent Franson went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored for the Huskies (5-17). Junior rightfielder 
Brandon Bena doubled and scored and senior catcher 
Erik Voller added a double.
Senior righthander 
Brady Batten took a no-decision, allowing one run on six hits with two strikeouts and five walks in 6.1 innings. Senior 
JT Newton (0-2) took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and five walks in 4.1 innings.
Mathews went 3-for-5 with a double and had a hand in all three runs, driving in two and scoring a run for the Green Wave (16-7). Trevor Jensen went 3-for-6 and David Bedgood drove in the other run for Tulane.
Keagan Gillies also took a no-decision, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Connor Pellerin (2-1) earned the win, holding HBU scoreless on one hit with four strikeouts and a walk over the final 1.2 innings.
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Franson doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior leftfielder 
Ryne Edmondson.
The Green Wave answered in the bottom of the third when Mathews reached on a fielder's choice, plating the tying run.
Bena doubled in the seventh, then Franson came through with an RBI single to put HBU ahead, 2-1.
Matthews was hit by a pitch to lead off the eighth, then scored the tying run on Bedgood's RBI single.
In the 11th, Jonathan Artigues drew a leadoff walk after a 12-pitch at-bat and scored on Mathew's game-winning single.
The series concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
