COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The HBU men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Texas A&M on Saturday evening for their final indoor meet of the season ahead of the Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Aggie Twilight meet held at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.
Junior
Denim Rogers placed first in the prelims in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.09 before breaking his own record in the event with a time of 8.05 in the finals and placing first.
In the women's weight throw, junior
Imani Jacquet set a new PR with a distance of 16.39m/53-9.25 to finish fourth overall but second among collegians. The Huskies' other PR in field events came in the men's long jump with
Michael Anderson achieving a top leap of 6.69m/21-11.50, placing fourth.
Christopher Welch took second, first among collegians, with a distance of 6.95m/22-9.75.
Freshman
Shirmalyn Moore finished ninth in the 800 meters with a new PR time of 2:23.46. In the men's 800,
Christos Zachariou bettered his own PR, finishing in 1:56.50, while
Travis Jacobs also posted a new PR of 1:56.71.
In the women's high jump, senior
Danielle Spargur took second place with a height of 1.67m/5-5.75 while
Iyanu Adeyeye placed seventh on the men's side, clearing 1.95m/6-4.75. Salome Brugier, who cleared 3.28m/10-9.0, now owns the program record in the women's pole vault.
The Huskies will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the 2019 Southland Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday, Feb. 24, and Monday, Feb. 25.
