CONWAY, Ark. – HBU dropped a 2-0 decision on the road in a Southland Conference matchup against the Central Arkansas Bears on Friday evening at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex.
The Huskies' (2-12-0, 1-6-0 SLC)
Ryan Ford put a shot toward the bottom right corner of the goal in the third minute but the Bears' back line cleared it out for a team save. Less than five minutes later, Central Arkansas (2-11-1, 1-6-0 SLC) picked up a 1-0 lead on a goal from Emma Hawkins with an assist by Hadley Dickinson. UCA attempted nine shots to the Huskies' three in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Kaimyn Beal, in her first game of the season, put an attempt on goal at the 57:56 mark but it was stopped by the UCA keeper. Less than 15 minutes later, in the 71
st minute, Morgan Rollow put a shot on goal that was stopped by
Ashtyn Franks but found the net 25 seconds later with an assist by Emma Hawkins. HBU's final shot of the match came off the foot of
Jessica Nevils in the 87
th minute but found the crossbar.
Franks finished the match with five saves for the Huskies, who were out-shot by the Bears by a 16-6 margin. UCA also held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks earned.
The Huskies will be in Natchitoches, La. to face the Lady Demons of Northwestern State on Sunday, Oct. 20, afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
