HOUSTON – HBU softball wraps up the regular season at Sam Houston State with its final three-game series starting with a double header Friday, May 3 at 3 p.m. at SHSU Softball Complex.
Junior shortstop
Demi Janak leads the Huskies (9-31, 6-18 SLC) with a .306 batting average with six doubles, a team-high nine homeruns and 26 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Senior third baseman
Kassie James is hitting .282 at the plate overall and leads the team with a .312 batting average in conference play only. Senior
Nicole Shedd contributes a .268 batting average with a team high nine doubles, four home runs and 20 RBIs.
Freshman pitcher
Jessica Patak (6-17) has a 3.58 ERA with one save in 154.2 innigs, while freshman pitcher
Elliott Estes (2-9) holds a 3.88 ERA in 74.0 innings.
The Bearkats' (19-31, 10-14 SLC) offense is led by Tiffany Thompson, who is hitting .292 at the plate with nine doubles, a team best three triples and six home runs, 18 RBIs and 26 runs scored. Brooke Malia is batting .260 and leads the team with 16 doubles, while Bailey White is batting .260 and leads the team with 25 RBIs.
Lindsey McLeod (12-11) holds a 2.48 ERA with one save in 166.1 appearances. She also has the highest number of strikeouts in the conference with 185. Annie Bailey (6-5) has a 5.28 ERA in 54.1 innings and Darby Fitzpatrick (0-8) has a 5.13 ERA in 72.1 innings.
The Bearkats lead the all-time series against HBU, 7-26.
The Huskies will conclude the series with a single-game at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
