HOUSTON – HBU softball drops the final game of the series with Nicholls in Southland Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Heidi Jaquez hit 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, while junior
Demi Janak homered. Sophomore
Amber Lotz walked and scored for the Huskies (2-10, 0-3 SLC).
Freshman
Jessica Patak (1-6) got the loss allowing six runs off nine hits, three strikeouts and two walks.
Kasey Frederick and Gretchen Morgan each had two RBIs, while Amanda Gianelloni went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
Megan Landry got the win going five innings in the circle allowing two runs off two hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Alexi LaBure got the save only allowing the Huskies to one hit with three strikeouts in 2.0 innings.
Nicholls got on the board first in the second inning, when lead-off batter Gianelloni reached on a walk and Frederick advanced her to second on a bunt. An Samantha Dares singled to left field to push two across, 2-0.
Brooklyn Devine doubled down the left field line to start off the fifth. With two outs and Devine on third, Jewel Lara singled to right center to push her across, 3-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Lotz led off with a walk and moved around by a double from Jaquez, 3-1.
The Huskies struck again in the sixth with a Janak homer to make it a one-point game, 3-2.
Nicholls topped off their lead, scoring three runs off two hits and two errors in the top of the seventh, 6-2.
