Carlos Trevino and
Val Almendarez tied for fifth and tied for eighth, respectively in the individual standings to aid the HBU men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Colin Montgomerie Intercollegiate. HBU scored 286 in the third round, which brought their total to 5-over par 869.
C. Trevino shot 71, bringing his total to this season's best 5-under par 211. Almendarez fired 70 to also total his season best 3-under par 213. Sophomore
Nicko Martinez finished 41
st with a total of 7-over par 223, after carding 73. Junior
Dan Dimaculangan posted 72, bringing his total to 10-over par 226 to finish 50
th, while senior
Guillaume Chalancon finished tied for 52
nd, after carding 76 and totaling 14-over par 230.
Junior
Zach Campbell shot 76 and tied for 30
th with a total of 4-over par 220, while sophomore
Marcelo Trevino shot 75, totaling 11-over par 227 to tie for 51
st. Senior
Raul Hernandez tied for 57
th, posting 77 in the third round to total 13-over par 229. Two strokes behind was sophomore Collin Mulligan, who shot 75, totaling 15-over 231 to finish 65.
Abilene Christian took the number one spot with a total of 7-under par 857, two strokes ahead of Bradley, eight strokes ahead of UT-Rio Grande Valley and 10 strokes ahead of Northern Colorado.
Houston's Pryce Beshoory and Alexander Frances claimed the top two rankings. Beshoory totaled 12-under par 204, while Frances totaled 11-under par 205. Abilene Christian's Garrent Glanton finished third with a total of 7-under par 209, followed by a one stroke difference by Northern Colorado's Joshua Matz. Tied for fifth, along with C. Trevino, was Central Arkansas' Lewis George.
The Huskies compete in a two-day tournament hosted by University of Houston in Laredo, Texas, starting Friday March 9.
