MGOLF: Huskies Open the Fall Season

HCU travels to Kansas for the K-State Wildcat Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Houston Christian men's golf opens its 2025–26 season at the K-State Wildcat Invitational, held September 8–9 at Colbert Hills Golf Course.

Kansas State welcomes 13 other programs to the field, including Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Incarnate Word, Kansas City, Lindenwood, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Omaha, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, and Houston Christian.

The Huskies' lineup features incoming freshman Julian "JJ" Worrell and senior transfer Carter Patterson, alongside returning standouts Brendon Willey, Brooks Pawlak, and Mason Napier.
Worrell, from Montgomery, Texas, will make his collegiate debut. Patterson, a native of The Colony, Texas, joins HCU after competing at Stephen F. Austin and beginning his career at McLennan Community College.

Willey closed his junior campaign with consistent play across nine tournaments, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational (-5, 211) and a ninth-place showing at the Southland Conference Championship (E, 216). He added three top-25 results, including at the Husky Intercollegiate, and finished the year with 11 rounds of par or better and a 73.4 scoring average. His season-low round was a 67 at the Zach Johnson Invitational.

Pawlak competed in 11 tournaments last season, posting his best finish at the Husky Intercollegiate with a tie for 10th (+3). He added three more top-20 finishes, including the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, and recorded nine rounds of par or better with a season-low 68. He carried a 74.6 stroke average on the year.

Napier appeared in 11 events, highlighted by a tie for 20th at the Husky Intercollegiate (+5, 221) and a tie for 22nd at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational. He tallied six rounds of par or better, with a season-low 70 at the La Tour Intercollegiate, and finished with a 75.8 scoring average.

As a team, the Huskies competed in 11 tournaments during the 2023–24 campaign, highlighted by runner-up finishes at the La Tour Intercollegiate (-2) and the Arkansas State Spring Invitational (+2). The team's best round was a 278 in the opener at La Tour, and HCU closed the season with 45 rounds of par or better and seven top-10 individual performances.

Houston Christian will open play at Colbert Hills with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. off Holes 9–17. The Huskies' five-man lineup includes Worrell, Patterson, Willey, Pawlak, and Napier.

Following the Wildcat Invitational, HCU will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake University, September 22–23.
