PATTERSON, Louisiana – HBU men's golf finished fifth in the team standing, after carding 300 to finish with a total of 902 at the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate.
Senior
Carlos Trevino led the Huskies with a total of 6-over par 222. He carded 1-over par 73 in the third round to climb five sports in the individual standing to tie for fifth. Senior Val Armendariz shot 78, bringing his total to 226 to tie for sixteenth. Sophomore
Nicko Martinez shot 77 to finish tied for 22
nd with a total of 229. Junior
Dan Dimaculangan shot an even par, moving seven spots up to finish 27
th with a total of 231. Junior Zachary Campbell finished tied for 40
th with a total of 23, after posting 80 in the third round.
Individual competitors for the Huskies were senior Guillaume Chalanceon, who tied for 12
th, after he shot 77 to total 225. Sophomore
Marcelo Trevino also carded 77, bringing his total to 239 to tie for 40
th.
UT-Rio Grande Valley took it all, as they totaled 17-over par 881, eight ahead of Jacksonville State, 16 ahead of Nicholls and 20 ahead of New Orleans.
UT-Rio Grande Valley's Alvaro Hernandez and Pedro Lamadrid maintained the top two spots individually. Hernandez totaled and even-par 216, while Lamadrid totaled 4-over par 220. Nicholls' Albert Badosa-Soler and Jacksonville's Jesus Montenegro totaled 5-over par 221 to tie for third. Alongside
Carlos Trevino, in fifth were Central Arkansas' Miles Smith, UT-Rio Grande Valley's Tennoshin Ogawa and Jacksonville's Benedikt Thalmayr.
The Huskies host the Colin Montgomerie Invitational Monday, Feb. 26 and Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Augusta Pines Golf Club at Spring, Texas.
