HOUSTON - HBU hosts Northwestern State for the first Southland Conference regular-season meetings between the two schools in a three-game series Friday and Saturday at Husky Field. Due to rain in the forecast over the weekend, the series will begin with a doubleheader Friday at 11 a.m., followed by the finale Saturday at 1 p.m. The video and Legacy Sports Network audio broadcasts with Russ Reneau begin 15 minutes prior to each first pitch and are available on HBUHuskies.com.
 
Junior leftfielder Spencer Halloran is hitting .345 with eight doubles, four triples, three home runs, 23 RBIs and 32 runs for the Huskies (20-16, 12-6 SLC). Senior centerfielder Zane Otten is hitting .328 with four doubles, three triples, 14 RBIs, 25 runs and 13 stolen bases, while junior shortstop Tyler Depreta-Johnson has hit safely in his last 14 conference games and is hitting .317 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, 16 RBIs and 21 runs. Senior rightfielder Brandon Brintz is hitting .305 with eight doubles, a home run, 19 RBIs and 24 runs and over his last 12 league games is hitting .465 with a .537 on-base percentage, nine RBIs and 10 runs.
 
HBU will send senior righthander Addison Russ (2-3, 3.05 ERA), senior lefthander Christian Thames (6-1, 2.78 ERA) and sophomore righthander Daniel Endsley (2-2, 1.66 ERA) to the mound. Sophomore reliever JT Newton has made a team-leading 17 appearances and has posted a 4-0 record with a 1.88 ERA, six saves and 34 strikeouts against five walks in 34.1 innings.
 
David Fry paces NSU (15-25, 5-13), hitting .333 with 16 doubles, nine home runs, 37 RBIs and 33 runs, while Spencer Goodwin is hitting .295 with five doubles, 15 RBIs and 16 runs. Caleb Ricca has 13 doubles, a triple, a home run, 11 RBIs and 19 runs.
 
The Demons will likely start righthanders Nathan Jones (3-6, 5.93 ERA), Evan Tidwell (3-5, 5.93 ERA) and Cullen McDonald (0-1, 4.41 ERA). Kyle Swanson leads NSU out of the bullpen with a 2-2 mark, 3.09 ERA and four saves in 15 appearances.
 
HBU won the last meeting over NSU, 4-1, in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament May 20, 2015, in Sugar Land.
 
The Huskies will play their final non-conference game of the season when they hit the road to face 19th-ranked Texas A&M Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. at Blue Bell Park in College Station.
