2016 (Junior): Russ made 15 appearances on the mound, including 14 starts...went 8-5 with 3.44 ERA, two complete games, a team-leading 66 strikeouts and 31 walks in 99.1 innings…went at least seven innings, while allowing two or fewer runs, in eight of his first nine starts…allowed two earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts over 7.0 innings for his first career win over Binghamton (2/19)…took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts over 7.0 innings in a win at UT Rio Grande Valley (2/27)…took a no-decision, gave up one run on five hits over 8.0 innings in a 2-1 win over Utah (3/4)…allowed two runs on six hits with a season-high nine strikeouts over 8.0 innings in a win over McNeese (3/11)…allowed one run on six hits with four strikeouts over 7.1 innings in a win over Incarnate Word (4/1)…tossed a complete game, giving up two runs on nine hits in a win over Abilene Christian (4/8)…allowed two runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in a win over Stephen F. Austin (4/15)…allowed thre runs on six hits with five strikeouts in a win over Nicholls (5/8) …named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
Previous School: Played his sophomore season at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, for Coach Bill Jackson…as a sophomore, started 13 games, going 6-6 with a 3.15 ERA, five complete games, 76 strikeouts and 23 walks in 88.2 innings…hurled two shutouts…played his freshman season at Frank Phillips College, where he started nine games, going 4-2 with a 4.73 ERA, 42 strikeouts and 15 walks in 51.0 innings.
 
High School: Was a three-year letterwinner at Randall High School in Amarillo, Texas, for Coach Cory Hamilton…as a senior, was named district co-MVP, first-team all-district and team MVP…as a junior, earned first-team all-district honors…as a sophomore, was selected newcomer of the year.
