HOUSTON –
Becca Allison has been elevated to full-time assistant coach on the HBU women's basketball staff, Huskies head coach
Donna Finnie announced Monday.
"I am thrilled we could keep Becca here at HBU," Finnie said. "She did a tremendous job during the time she was our GA (graduate assistant), working with our guards and helping with recruiting. Becca has an infectious personality and everyday is positive with our girls. She really understands the game and communicates that to our players very well."
"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working for Coach Donna and HBU women's basketball," Allison said. "Coach Donna has completely turned this program around, both in the classroom as well as on the court, and I'm excited to see what this young, talented team can do this season. I am looking forward to helping the Huskies win their first Southland championship!"
Allison has served as the graduate assistant coach for the HBU women's basketball the past two seasons, contributing to the recruitment of both Texas and international student-athletes, coordinating travel, as well as academic oversight and academic liaison responsibilities.
A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Allison came to HBU from Old Dominion University, where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Monarchs from 2010-14 and earned a bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in marketing. She earned a Master's degree in education from HBU this past spring.
"As Becca's former coach (in Scotland), it has been so rewarding to see her growth as a person, a player and now as a coach," Finnie said. "She is a huge asset to our staff and I am excited to be able to continue to watch her grow as our program does as well."
Justin Jones was announced as Allison's replacement in the Huskies' graduate assistant role last month.
