Senior second baseman
Greg Espinosa is hitting .308 with nine doubles, one triple, 15 RBIs and 23 runs for the Huskies, while senior shortstop
Louie Payetta is hitting .295 with 10 doubles, 22 RBIs and 22 runs. Senior first baseman
Andrew Alvarez is hitting .283 with eight doubles, two triples, a home run, 14 RBIs and 12 runs.
Junior lefthander
Ivan Smith (0-0, 5.27 ERA) is expected to make his second start of the season for HBU. He made his first career start last week at Prairie View and took a no-decision, while striking out a caree-high six.
Gerreck Jimenez is hitting .340 with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, 26 RBIs and 20 runs for TSU (18-22), while Chris Scroggins is hitting .333 with five doubles, three triples, 24 RBIs and 25 runs. Olajide Oloruntimlehin is hitting .301 and leads the Tigers with six hom runs and 32 RBIs.
HBU leads the all-time series against TSU, 21-11, but the Tigers won both meetings last season. The two teams will also square off next Tuesday at 3 p.m. at MacGregor Park.
The Huskies return to league play this weekend with a three game Southland Conference series against Nicholls at Husky Field. Friday's opener begins at 2 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start Saturday and a 2 p.m. first pitch in the finale Sunday.
