ABILENE, Texas – Abilene Christian lefthander Aaron Mason held HBU to four hits in a complete-game shutout as the Wildcats claimed a 9-0 victory to even the Southland Conference baseball series Saturday night at Crutcher Scott Field.
Mason (4-2) struck out six and did not walk a batter on 113 pitches for the Wildcats (11-18, 3-8 SLC).
Senior first baseman
Justin Monsour tripled, while senior second baseman
Greg Espinosa doubled for the Huskies (15-15, 6-5). Junior leftfielder
Zane Otten singled, stole two baes for his team-leading eighth, while junior centerfielder
Joe Van Marter also singled.
Junior righthander
Julian Griego (3-3) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on 12 hits with two strikeouts and a walk in five innings. Senior
Brody Toal and juniors
Ivan Smith and
Weston Wick worked an inning apiece out of the bullpen.
Hunter Markwardt went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, while Mark Pearson went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored twice for ACU. Russell Crippen and Alex Copeland each went 2-for-4 with a run and Braxton Wilks drove in a pair.
