TF: Huskies Take Part in UTSA Roadrunner Invitational

Friday events begins at 3 p.m. while Saturday starts at noon

SAN ANTONIO – The HBU men's and women's track and field teams compete at the two-day UTSA Roadrunner Invitational, beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday from Park West Athletics Complex.

Joining HBU at the invitational will be Lamar, UT Rio Grande Valley, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The first event on Friday is the women's hammer throw at 3 p.m. Briana O'Brien will join 12 other competitors.

At the men's shot put, immediately following the men's and women's hammer, Garrison Fick and Shawn O'Brien will test the field, while Renee Gentle and Ana Kriletic follow in the women's competition.

The first event on Saturday is the men's javelin at noon. Fick and O'Brien enter the six-man field with O'Brien coming in with the biggest toss this season at 51.29m. Gentle and Kriletic follow in the 12-person women's field, as Kriletic enters with the third-best toss in the field at 30.88m.

Seven Huskies – Kriletic, Michelle Linton, Taylor Thomas, Desiree Scott, Gentle, Shantelle Slaughter, and Emily Sacky – will compete in the 11-person women's long jump Saturday at noon.

In the women's triple jump, Sacky and Tay Nance will test the field, as Nance enters the competition with the second-best mark in the field at 11.98m.

Saturday's running events get underway with the men's 3000m steeplechase at noon, as Enrique Perez will take on Marek Spriesterback from TAMU-CC and Tye Norman from Lamar.

Orlando Garcia and Jeremy Lewis will toe the line in the men's 1500m as Lewis comes in with the fastest mark in the field at 3:55.12. On the women's side, Brielle Eskridge, Emily Dunn, Gabriella Busquet, and Arielle Price will test the 14-person field.

The Huskies will be well-represented at the 100m dash, as Raymond Chukwuma, Justin Carmouche, Sean Walker, Jamal Kemp, and Jordan Claypool toe the line on the men's side, while the women will be represented by Thomas, Linton, Reagan Jones, Imani Carr, Lakesha Cameron, and Tambrisha Banks.
