HOUSTON – In their final event before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, the HBU track and field teams compete in the University of Houston Yokubaitis Invitational on Saturday from the Carl Lewis Track Complex.
Briana O'Brien will get things going with the women's hammer throw at 9 a.m. O'Brien will later take on the competition in the discus at 3 p.m.
After a strong showing at Rice last weekend,
Renee Gentle will also compete in two events: the javelin at 11 a.m. and high jump at 1:45 p.m.
Shawn O'Brien will compete in his first pole vault event of the outdoor season and will join
Garrison Fick – his first pole vault event since the Texas Relays – at 1:45 p.m. O'Brien will also compete in the high jump at 3:30 p.m. and 110m hurdles at 2:55 p.m.
The first event on the track will be the women's 4x100 relay at 1:45 p.m., followed by the men.
Emily Dunn,
Arielle Price, and
Katie Haring will toe the line in the women's 1500m run at 2:05 p.m., while
Orlando Garcia,
Jeremy Lewis, and
Oscar Garcia will represent the men at 2:20 p.m.
Kierstin Santana will look for back-to-back wins the 800m as she will be joined by
Brielle Eskridge and
Dominique Lewis at 4 p.m.
Daniel Shelton and
Cody Hammonds will represent the men at 4:10 p.m.
Gbemisola Orundami is scheduled to compete in her first outdoor event of the season as she will join
Lakesha Cameron and
Tambrisha Banks in the women's 200m at 5 p.m. Fick,
Jamal Kemp, and
Jordan Claypool will follow in the men's race at 5:20 p.m.
Lauren Stockton and
Enrique Perez are scheduled to compete in the Huskies' first 3000m steeplechase events of the season, at 5:35 p.m. and 5:55 p.m., respectively.
