HOUSTON – The HBU softball team continues Southland Conference play and closes their home schedule, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a three-game series across April 23-24 at Husky Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., before concluding in a 2 p.m. first pitch on Sunday.
Due to weather, "Senior Day" festivities have been moved to Saturday, instead of after Sunday's series finale. Seniors

Erica Reyes, will be honored on the field following the end of the doubleheader.

The Huskies (14-22, 6-12 SLC) are winners of their last two conference series, claiming 2-1 decisions over Stephen F. Austin and at Sam Houston State. In the series at SHSU, freshman shortstop
Savana Guidry turned in a .692/.923/.692 slash. The native of Nederland, Texas, recorded three multi-hit performances, totaling nine hits, with one double, one triple, four runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases, across the series. From her last at bat of the series opener into the series finale, Guidry recorded eight consecutive hits. In game two of the doubleheader on April 15, she went a perfect 4-for-4, a first for the HBU since April 24, 2015.

Shannon O'Connor went the distance in game two of the doubleheader, limiting the Bearkats to two hits and two runs (both unearned), while fanning two and walking none.

Laci Belovsky leads the Huskies in the circle, owning an 8-13 record and 4.43 ERA through 27 appearances and 21 starts. Belovsky, who ranks second in the SLC with 16 complete games, has a staff-best 49 strikeouts across 137 and a third innings pitched.
At the plate, Guidry leads the team with a .340 batting average. Sophomore utility player
Libby Brown (.327), Orsak (.324) and sophomore right fielder
Cecilia Bauer (.300), are also hitting a .300 clip or better, respectively. Freshman second baseman
Demi Janak leads HBU with a .566 slugging percentage, seven home runs and 21 RBI, while Orsak holds the team mark with seven doubles.
The Huskies, currently ninth in the standings, are still vying for a berth in the SLC Tournament with nine conference games to go.
The Islanders enter the series with a 13-26 overall record and 3-15 mark in SLC play, sitting 12th in the standings. TAMU-CC has taken game in each of its series with Central Arkansas, SHSU and SFA.
Islander senior outfielder Dani Tefft leads the team with a .327 batting average. Infielders Candice Hadd and Cosette Hernandez hold the team marks with 15 RBI and 19 runs score, respectfully. TAMU-CC is hitting .217 as a team.
The Islanders have rolled with three pitchers for most of the season in junior Liz Carter (7-11, 3.26 ERA), freshman Colleen Bentke (4-8, 4.28 ERA) and senior Stephanie Flores (1-7, 2.96 ERA), as the staff holds a 3.50 collective ERA.
TAMU-CC is under the guidance of head coach Stephanie Hughes, in her fifth season at the helm and sixth overall in charge of the lineup.
The Islanders lead the all-time series, 17-8.
Following the weekend, HBU will close the regular season with road conference series at Central Arkansas (April 29-30) and Abilene Christian (May 6-7).
