HOUSTON – Fresh off a successful meet in San Antonio, the HBU men's and women's track and field teams return to Houston to take part in the annual J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight, held Saturday, April 16 from Ley Track on the Rice University campus.

The first event scheduled for the day is the men's discus at 10 a.m., while the first running event will be men's 110m hurdles at 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for youth.

Shawn O'Brien and Garrison Fick will test the field in the men's discus, high jump, and long jump, while O'Brien will compete in the javelin. On the flip side, Briana O'Brien will take part in the women's discus and hammer throw.

The long jump features a plethora of Huskies, as six will compete on the women's side: Taylor Thomas, Emily Sacky, Desiree Scott, Ana Kriletic, Michelle Linton and Renee Gentle. Michelle Chukwujekwu is competing unattached. Justin Carmouche, D'Angelo Wallace, and Cameron Frelow will join O'Brien and Fick in the men's portion.

Shantelle Slaughter, Sacky, and Tay Nance will compete in the women's triple jump scheduled for 4 p.m. Earlier this season at the Rice Victor Lopez Classic, Nance set the outdoor school record with a leap of 11.98m. Wallace will test an 11-man field in the men's competition.

In the women's 100m, Imani Carr, Reagan Jones, and Tambrisha Banks will toe the line, with Carr and Jones competing at 4:10 p.m. and Banks sprinting later at 6:50 p.m. On the men's side, Raymond Chukwuma, Carmouche, Sean Walker, and Jamal Kemp will test the field with Kemp running at 6:55 p.m.

Dominique Lewis and Kierstin Santana will compete in the women's 800m at 7:25 p.m., while Cody Hammonds and Daniel Shelton follow in the men's competition at 7:35 p.m.

Kemp will look for another victory in the men's 200m as he and Fick run under the lights at 7:55 p.m., while Chukwuma, Walker, and Jordan Claypool compete in the earlier sections at 5:20 p.m.
