Live StatsSAN ANTONIO – Looking to snap a six-game losing streak, the HBU softball team opens a three-game Southland Conference series at Incarnate Word on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. from Cardinals Field. Saturday's finale is set for a noon start.
HBU leads the all-time series, 46-20, and swept last season's three-game series in Houston.
HBU (10-16 overall, 2-7 SLC) is coming off an 11-6 loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday.
Laci Belovsky hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. On the season,
Savana Guidry leads the Huskies in batting average (.348), runs (14), and stolen bases (10).
Shay Orsak follows with a .329 average and leads the team with 25 hits.
Demi Janak's 13 RBI is tops.
In the circle, Belovsky is 6-9 with a 4.78 ERA, 10 complete games, one shutout, and 34 strikeouts.
UIW (11-20, 2-7) was last swept in a SLC series at Lamar. On the season, Mikaela Flores leads the Cardinals with a .357 batting average, while Danielle Ramirez (.356) is tops with 26 hits, 14 runs, and eight stolen bases. Alex Alonso's 24 RBI leads the team.
The Cardinals feature five pitchers, led by Sarah Leal with a 3.84 ERA, a 3-6 record, three complete games, one save, and 33 strikeouts.
After the series, HBU plays at Texas Southern on Tuesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. from Memorial Park.
