HBU and ACU met for the first time ever last season in Abilene, as the Huskies took the series, two games to one.
In HBU's last contest, the Huskies (13-29 overall, 5-17 SLC) took a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth Tuesday at Texas Southern and held on for a 3-2 win. Herman (2) and
Madison Vonhagel (1) registered the RBIs while
Emily Mueller struck out three in the complete-game victory.
On the season,
Nicole Shedd is 22nd in the Southland Conference with a .339 batting average, going 42-for-124 at the plate with team bests of two triples and four home runs. Herman's 25 runs scored and 23 RBIs lead the Huskies.
Shay Orsak's two doubles Tuesday put her in the team lead with nine two-baggers on the season.
Libby Brown went 2-for-3 Tuesday and is on a season-high five-game hitting streak. As a team, HBU is batting .270 compared to .332 for its opponents.

Laci Belovsky is third in the conference in shutouts (4), eighth in both strikeouts (83) and appearances (30), 11th in complete games (10), and 20th in ERA (4.64).
After splitting last Friday's doubleheader against visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Islanders took Saturday's rubber game from ACU, 5-3.
Peyton Hedrick is second in the conference with a .434 batting average, going 62-for-143 at the plate. She is seventh in SLC in both home runs (11) and RBIs (41). Taylor Brown leads the conference with 10 triples. Brown and Hedrick are fifth and sixth with 41 and 40 runs, respectively. As a team, the Wildcats are batting .287 compared to .332 for their opponents.
ACU (11-33, 5-19) features only two pitchers, Emily Seidel and Julia Montoya. Seidel is 5-22 with 13 complete games, two shutouts, one save, 84 strikeouts, and a 5.97 ERA. Montoya is 6-11 with four complete games, two saves, 27 strikeouts, and a 7.41 ERA.
