HOUSTON – After a stellar 1-0 home win Wednesday, HBU softball returns to Southland Conference play when the Huskies host Central Arkansas Friday and Saturday from Husky Field. Friday's doubleheader begins at 2 pm while Saturday's first pitch is set to begin at noon.

The series between the two teams is knotted at 3-all. HBU took two-of-three from the Bears last season in Conway.

In HBU's last game, one run was all Laci Belovsky needed as she tossed a three-hit shutout in HBU's (11-27 overall, 4-15 SLC) 1-0 win over visiting UTSA Wednesday.
 
Belovsky recorded her fourth complete-game shutout of the season, retiring the Roadrunners in order twice and struck out the side in the top of the second. Libby Brown's bunt single in the bottom of the second brought home Melissa Herman for the winning run.
 
On the season, Nicole Shedd is 20th in the conference with a .342 batting average, going 38-for-111 with team-highs of seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 21 RBIs. Herman leads the Huskies with 24 runs scored and is second with three homers and 20 RBIs. As a team, HBU is batting .267 compared to .335 for its opponents.
 
In the circle, Belovsky is third in the conference in shutouts (4), eighth in appearances (27) and strikeouts (77), 11th in wins (8), 12th in complete games (9), and 19th in ERA (4.80).

Second-place Central Arkansas (29-15, 14-4) swept a doubleheader at Memphis Tuesday, 5-3 and 8-0.
 
Sarah Bigej is 15th in the conference with a .357 batting average, going 40-for-112 at the plate. Her 31 runs are tied for the team lead with Briana Whisenhunt. Jessie Taylor leads the Bears with 10 home runs and her 11 doubles are tied with Sam Forrest. As a team, the Bears are hitting .286 compared to .245 for their opponents.
 
Kylee Studioso leads the conference in wins (22), strikeouts (213), complete games (24), and shutouts (7; 6 solo and 1 shared). She is second in appearances (33), and seventh in ERA (3.16).
