HBU leads the all-time series, 26-1, between the former Red River Athletic Conference foes, and defeated HTU, 86-36, last season in Houston. In that game,
Meghan Shank set new personal bests of 15 points and seven steals.
HBU (4-5) is 0-2 on its current three-game home stand, with the most recent setback a 64-40 defeat against UT Arlington on Dec. 19.
Anna Strickland posted her sixth double-double of the season against UTA with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while
Monet Neal dropped a game-high 18 points. On the season, Strickland leads the Southland Conference - and is 6th in the nation - with 13.0 rebounds per game, is eighth in the SLC with 13.4 points per game, and is second with 1.6 blocked shots per game.
Rachel Arthur follows Strickland with 11.9 points per game. She is T-49th nationally with a 54.5 field-goal percentage. As a team, HBU is shooting 39 percent from the floor compared to 42 percent for its opponents.
Huston-Tillotson (5-1) began RRAC play with wins over LSU-Alexandria and then-No. 23 LSU-Shreveport. The Lady Rams are on a three-game winning streak and the only loss came at the hands of Division II's St. Edward's. Ariel Callis leads HTU with 17.5 points per game, followed by Deandra Darjean and Porscha Jewell with 16.5 and 12.6 points per game, respectively. Darjean joins Mishae Roper as the glass leaders, with 5.7 boards per game. The Lady Rams are shooting 50 percent from the floor compared to 34 percent for their opponents.
HBU opens Southland Conference play at Northwestern State Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. It will be a rematch of last season's Southland Conference championship game, one that the Lady Demons were victorious, 58-50.
