HOUSTON – HBU returns to Sharp Gym for the final two games of the regular season, looking for one final push and a bit of help to get into the Southland Conference Tournament in its first season as a member.

The Huskies host Nicholls Thursday, March 6 at 5 pm, then conclude the regular season with McNeese State Saturday at 3 pm on "Senior Day."

Five teams have already punched tickets into the tournament: Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, Nicholls, and McNeese State. There could be as many as five teams battling for the final three spots in the final weekend of the regular season. All in all, HBU needs to win out, plus have Oral Roberts lose both road games (at SFA and Northwestern State), and have Southeastern Louisiana lose both of its road games (at Sam Houston State and Lamar) for HBU to earn the eighth seed.

After winning seven of ten games, HBU (11-16 overall, 7-9 SLC) has now lost three straight. The Huskies' latest setback was a 90-65 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Saturday in Corpus Christi.

Shanice Steenholdt led all players with 22 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Rachel Arthur and Tayler Jefferson chipped in with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Steenholdt is second in the conference with 18.0 points per game in 16 conference games and 17.6 points per game on the season. She is fifth in conference rebounding with 9.5 boards per contest and third in overall rebounding, averaging 9.4 boards per game. Arthur is second on the team with 11.4 points per game. She is averaging a team-high 35 minutes per game.

Nicholls (15-12 overall, 10-6 SLC) split last weekend at home, losing to Abilene Christian, 78-62, but rebounding to defeat Incarnate Word, 76-64.

Against UIW, Emani White scored 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Jenny Nash and KK Babin scored 15 and 13 points, respectively.

White leads the Southland Conference in both points per game on the season (19.7) and in conference play (19.8). Nash averages 10.6 points per game and a team-best 6.0 rebounds per contest.

HBU defeated the Colonels earlier this season in the only meeting in program history, a 66-61 victory in Thibodaux, La., back in January.
