NACOGDOCHES --
Hiba Kreidie and
Matt Perri swept the individual titles Friday to lead HBU's cross country teams at the SFA Lumberjack Opener at Pecan Acres Park in the first Southland Conference competition of the 2013-14 season.
Kreidie moved away from the field early in the women's two-mile race and maintained a healthy gap throughout as she finished first overall at 11:38.
Jessica Whitt, last year's number one runner for the Huskies, was fourth overall at 11:55. The meet was scored as a triple dual, and HBU beat SFA and tied with Sam Houston State in women's competition.

Matt Perri dominated the men's five-kilometer race, winning by 18 seconds in 15:49. Freshmen
Juan Fraga and
Oscar Garcia had impressive debuts, with Fraga placing sixth overall at 16:36 and Garcia eighth at 16:51. The Huskies beat Sam Houston and lost to SFA by three points.
HBU next competes on Sept. 13 at the Rice Invitational.
