DENTON, Texas – Junior goalkeeper Patty Walrath made six saves in her first action since 2011, but the Huskies couldn't get anything past the North Texas keeper, as the Mean Green defeated HBU, 1-0, Sunday afternoon from the Mean Green Soccer Complex.
Natalie Hager led HBU with three shots on goal, while Kelsey Missimer and Kristi O'Brien each had two.
Walrath suffered the tough loss, as the six saves tied her career high.
Rachel Holden led the Mean Green with three shots on goal, as one of her shots was the difference maker.
Jackie Kerestine earned the win in net, as she made nine saves.
The only scoring came in the 36th minute, as there was a battle for the ball in the left corner of the Husky defensive zone. Holden got possession of the ball and scored on the back post.
North Texas outshot HBU, 23-15, and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
HBU (0-2-0) will play in its home opener against TCU on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7 pm.
