TULSA, Okla. – After taking host Texas State to overtime in an exhibition match last Saturday, the HBU women's soccer team opens regular season play at Tulsa and North Texas this weekend. This marks the first-ever meetings against each school.

The HBU-Tulsa match will be held Friday, Aug. 23 at 7:35 pm, while HBU and North Texas kick off at 1 pm on Sunday, Aug. 25.

HBU lost its only exhibition match, 3-2 in overtime at Texas State on Aug. 17. Allison Abendschein scored both Husky goals in her collegiate debut. Stephanie Castellon made four saves in goal, while Shelby Horn made one save in relief.

HBU enters its first season in the Southland Conference. The Huskies went 10-7-3 and 4-1-0 in their final season in the Great West Conference in 2012.

Tulsa defeated visiting Central Oklahoma, 3-0, in an exhibition on Aug. 17. Roman Edwards, Bradi Hinch, and Katelyn Admire all scored for the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa went 12-6-4 in 2012.

North Texas did not play an exhibition match and will open the regular season at Texas Southern on Aug. 23. The Mean Green went 16-5-2 last season.

Following this weekend's matches, the Huskies host their home opener against TCU on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7 pm.
