Golfer Preston Stanley Finishes 2nd at Cotton States Tournament

Huskies’ junior makes it all the way to final of prestigious event.

Preston Stanley finished second at the Cotton States Invitational Tournament Saturday in Monroe, La.
MONROE, La. – HBU junior Preston Stanley made a remarkable run this week to finish second overall in the 62nd W.E. Cole Cotton States Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday at Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
 
Stanley shot a 36-hole total of 141 to enter the 64-player match play portion of the tournament as the third seed. He defeated Chris Lovell 6&4, then Cash Wilkerson 2&1. Stanley downed J.T. Taylor 2&1 and Jonathan Chang 4&2 to advance to the semifinals.
 
On Saturday, Stanley outlasted Cooper Musselman, winning on the 19th hole, then fell to Ian Davis in the final.
 
Stanley led the Huskies in stroke average during the 2012-13 season, when HBU won the America Sky Conference championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
