Men’s Golf Headed to Baton Rouge for NCAA Regional

Huskies earn automatic berth to NCAA Tournament for first time since 1988.

Sophomore Preston Stanley and head coach David Shuster lead the Huskies into the NCAA Tournament May 16-18 in Baton Rouge, La.
HOUSTON – The Houston Baptist men's golf team was selected as the 13th seed at the NCAA Regional to be hosted by LSU at University Club of Baton Rouge May 16-18 in Baton Rouge, La.

The Huskies earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by capturing the America Sky Conference championship last week at The Dominion in San Antonio. The berth is the first automatic bid by an HBU program since the school returned to Division I competition in 2007. The Huskies last made a showing in an NCAA Tournament when the golf team made the last of its four-straight appearances in 1988.

HBU is led by its four sophomores Andy Ariens, Jeffery Merrell, Preston Stanley and Brandon Wilhide and senior Hudson Hansard.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 28-June 2 at The Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Ga.
