HOUSTON – This afternoon was Senior Day and the seniors shone, leading Houston Baptist to a sweep of visiting Stephen F. Austin Monday afternoon from Husky Field. The Huskies won game one, 3-2, and game two, 11-2 in six innings.
Game one was resumed from where it left off Saturday before rain halted play, with two outs in the top of the fourth and the Huskies leading 1-0.
SFA took a 2-1 lead after scoring twice in the top of the fifth. Bethany Brown hit a one-out double, advanced to third on a groundout, then scored on an RBI double by Elizabeth Arana, which tied the game at one. The very next batter, Nicole Wooten, hit an RBI single to left field and advanced to second on the throw home, giving the Ladyjacks their first lead of the day. The Huskies got a fly out to end the threat.
After going down in order in the bottom of the fifth and holding SFA scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Huskies regained the lead with a two-run bottom of the sixth.
Kirsten Schwirtlich led off the inning with a single up the middle, then advanced to second on a sac bunt by
Melissa Herman. K. Schwirtlich reached third safely and
Victoria Granchelli advanced to second on a Ladyjack error, placing runners in scoring position with just one out.
Holly Webb then singled home K. Schwirtlich and advanced V. Granchelli to third.
Kate Maddock hit a deep fly to right field, allowing V. Granchelli to score home on Maddock's sac fly.
SFA threatened in the top of the seventh, as two singles put runners at the corners with just one out. Arana stole second, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. But
Sarah Shotton struck out Wooten and Shanice Love to end the game.

The Husky offense exploded to start game two, scoring twice in the first and three more in the second to lead 5-0. With runners at the corners in the bottom of the first, the Huskies pulled a double steal, as L. Schwirtlich stole home and gave the Huskies their first run of the game. A groundout to first with a runner on third scored the Huskies' second run.
After a one-out single by Maddock in the bottom of the second, L. Schwirtlich tripled to right-center to make the score 3-0. An RBI single by Rademacher gave the Huskies a 4-0 lead, and the Huskies' fifth run came on a solo homer by K. Schwirtlich.
Entering the top of the third, there was a 30-minute rain delay. The delay helped the Ladyjacks, who scored single runs in the top of the fourth and fifth to cut the deficit to 5-2. In the fifth inning, SFA had the tying run at the plate, but the Huskies got a pop up to end the inning.
The Huskies exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth, as they run-ruled the Ladyjacks. SFA starting pitcher, White, allowed four walks in the entire game, but three of them came in the sixth.
