HOUSTON – HBU sophomore guard
Rachel Arthur came of the bench to score 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range as the Huskies stormed past UT-Tyler, 93-56, in a women's basketball exhibition action Sunday afternoon at Sharp Gym.

Shanice Steenholdt had 13 points, making 5-of-6 from the field, in only 11 minutes, while sophomore forward
Monet Neal had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Junior guard Taylor Jefferson had nine points, sophomore forward
Anna Strickland led the Huskies with eight rebounds, and junior guard
Wiebke Bruns had six assists.
Brittany King led UT-Tyler with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Leslie Thronburg and D'onna Matthews each had eight points. Danai Woods paced the Patriots with four assists.
HBU shot 53.7 percent from the field for the game, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from 3-point range. UT-Tyler shot 38.2 percent for the game and only made 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from behind the arc. The Huskies outrebounded the Patriots, 42-40, and forced them into 31 turnovers.
UT-Tyler jumped out to an 8-3 lead, but a 3-pointer by Bruns sparked a 7-0 Huskies run that gave them a two-point advantage. Baskin and Matthews each hit jumpers to regain the lead for the Patriots. Neal and Steenholdt each had putbacks and freshman guard
Heidi Sihvola nailed a long jumper to put HBU back up by four.
After UT-Tyler scored to make a two-point game, HBU went on a 16-0 run over the next 4:38 to take a 32-14. Arthur made a steal at the top of the key, took it the distance and was fouled for a three-point play. Junior forward
Erin McGarrachan put back her own miss, Neal pulled up and buried a three from the top of the arch, sophomore guard
Meghan Shank hit a baseline jumper, Arthur had another steal and fast-break layup, then Shank found
Ekemini Essien alone underneath for a layup.
A three and a couple of layups by Jefferson and a pair of threes by junior guard
Maisie Elston extended the Huskies' lead to as much as 26, and they took a 49-24 lead into halftime. Arthur led HBU with eight points in the opening frame, with Jefferson and Steenholdt scoring seven each. Baskin and Matthews had six points apiece for UT-Tyler.
Midway through the second half, HBU scored eight-straight to lead 76-42, and Shank's jumper at the 3:30 mark put the Huskies up by 40, which would be their largest lead of the game.
The Huskies open the regular season by hosting UT Arlington Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
