Box Score
HAMMOND, La. -
Natalie Hager scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season and Houston Baptist shut out host Southeastern Louisiana, 1-0, Friday afternoon.
It was the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Lions, who will be Southland Conference rivals beginning next season.
Hager scored, assisted by
Rebekah Tovar and
Taylor Gibson in the 83rd minute.
"The girls played hard both halves," said head coach
Misty Jones. "We put Southeastern Louisiana under a lot of pressure in the second half. Tovar worked hard to win a ball at the endline. She passed to Taylor who served a fantastic ball to Nat for the tap-in goal. I am very pleased with the effort and the result tonight."
Shelby Horn made four saves in her third shutout on the season. Lacey Bockhaus made five saves and only allowed the one goal for the Lions.
HBU (4-5-2) will play at McNeese State - another future SLC opponent next season - at 1 pm on Sunday.
