HOUSTON – The Houston Baptist women's soccer team and visiting Texas State entered overtime for just the second time in series history, and the two teams came away with a 1-1 double-overtime stalemate Friday evening from Sorrels Field.

The Huskies and Bobcats' previous overtime experience came in the 2008 campaign, where Texas State won at home, 2-1, scoring in the 103rd minute.

The Bobcats got on the board first, as Serena Hines scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Lynsey Curry. Curry sent a pass up the left side of the field, ahead of Hines. There was a race to the loose ball between Hines and HBU goalkeeper Shelby Horn, but Hines was too quick and scored in an empty net in the 28th minute.

The two teams entered halftime with Texas State leading 1-0. Texas State outshot HBU in the first half, 8-6.

HBU tied the match in the 53rd minute, as Hager scored, assisted by Molly Missimer. Missimer rocketed a shot in the box that hit the post. The rebound went to Hager, who shot it into an open net as the Bobcat keeper was out of position.

Neither team could score the clincher the remainder of the match. Both teams had their chances. Brandi Hart narrowly ending the match in the first overtime, as she split the defense, but her shot went just too far to the right. Late in the second overtime, a Texas State player entered the box wide open, but Arielle Rodriguez made an outstanding defensive play, stopping the Bobcat in her tracks and getting the ball out of harm's way.

Horn improves her record to 2-1-1, as she made six saves. Natalie Gardini went to 0-1-1 on the season as she also made six saves for Texas State.

HBU (2-2-1) will conclude the home stand against Stephen F. Austin at 1 pm on Sun., Sept. 2.
