HOUSTON – Coming off a 1-1 tie against Sam Houston State in an exhibition match last Saturday, Houston Baptist begins the 2012 campaign with a home match against UTSA on Fri., Aug. 17 at 7 pm at Sorrels Field, then conclude the weekend heading to the University of Houston at 7 pm.
HBU enters Friday's match looking for its first win over UTSA, as the Roadrunners are 2-0-0 all-time against the Huskies.
Last Saturday,
Emily Hughes scored her first goal as a Husky to tie the game with SHSU at one.
Shelby Horn and
Lara Johnson – who saw her first action in two seasons – split time in goal.
UTSA also tied its exhibition match with TCU, 1-1, on Aug. 10. Anissa Munson scored the game's first goal in the 23rd minute, but TCU later scored in the 76th minute as the match ended in a draw.
UH won its exhibition match against Northwestern State, 2-1, on Aug. 11. NSU scored the first goal of the match, but UH scored the final two – including the game winner in the 80th minute – for the win.
HBU is 1-2-0 lifetime against UH.
