Postmatch Interview with Bailey Keith
HOUSTON – Houston Baptist sophomore outside hitter
Bailey Keith posted a career-high 14 kills and added four blocks to lead the Huskies to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-13) sweep of future Southland Conference rival New Orleans Saturday afternoon at Sharp Gym.
Keith had 20 attempts with no attack errors to hit .700 for the match. Senior outside hitter
Heather Leaverton had 11 kills and eight digs, while junior middle blocker had nine kills and five blocks for HBU (14-10). Sophomore outside hitter

Esther Longoria led the Huskies defensively with 11 digs.
Taylor Berry led New Orleans (7-12) with 12 kills, while Laila Hansen and Brionne Smith each had four. Smith also had five blocks, while Lauren Levy led the Privateers with 14 digs.
HBU hit .361 for the match and held New Orleans to .093. The Huskies outdug the Privateers, 45-31, outblocked them, 8-6, and held a 6-1 advantage in service aces.
With the score tied 5-5 in the first, HBU scored six-straight points. The Huskies quickly pushed their lead to 10 and went on to win the first set, 25-15. Keith and Wenger each had five kills for HBU, while Berry had four kills for New Orleans.
Early in the second set, the Huskies scored nine out of 10 points to take a 10-3 lead. HBU later scored four-straight points to lead 18-8, then went on to a 25-14 decision to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Leaverton had five kills and Keith pitched in with four for HBU, while Berry had six for New Orleans.
HBU held a one-point advantage in the third, but scored five-straight points to extend their lead to 12-6. Another five-point run pushed the lead to 18-8 and the Huskies went on to clinch the match by a score of 25-13. Keith had five kills and Leaverton had four, while three players had two kills each for the Privateers.
The Huskies return to action when they host another future Southland Conference foe, Stephen F. Austin, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
