HOUSTON – A familiar foe will face the Houston Baptist women's basketball team in the Huskies' final game in their season-high five-game home stand: the UT-Pan American Lady Broncs. The two teams will square off on Sat., Jan. 28 at 7 pm from Sharp Gym in the teams' 12th meeting all-time.

UTPA, who leads the all-time series, 10-1, makes the 5+ hour trip up 59, looking for its sixth-straight win over HBU, while the Huskies are looking to defeat the Lady Broncs for the first time since the 2000-01 campaign.

HBU (1-17, 0-2 GWC) scored the second-highest point total this season and shot 86 percent from the foul line, but the Huskies fell to 0-2 in the conference with a 79-66 loss to defending Great West Conference champs, Chicago State, on Jan. 21.

Joselyn Pugh scored a career-high 17 points and Devyn Weymouth added 15, as the pair tied for the team high with seven rebounds. Brittany Barton scored 11 points. Weymouth (9-of-10) and Barton (6-of-6) combined to go 15-of-16 from the charity stripe.

Janay Dockery led CSU with 30 points, as she hit six of the Cougars' seven 3-pointers. Paris Williams recorded a double-double of 16 points and 19 boards.

Shanice Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 18.7 ppg and 10.9 rpg, followed by Weymouth with 8.2 ppg and 4.9 rpg. Weymouth leads the Huskies with 43 assists, while Tayler Jefferson has 31 steals.

In the Jan. 24 USA Today ESPN Division I Top 25 Coaches' Poll, UTEP received votes, marking the third-consecutive season that the Huskies have had a ranked opponent on the schedule. HBU hosted national power Duke to open the 2009-10 campaign, hosted a University of Houston squad in 2010-11 that reached the NCAA Tournament, and traveled to El Paso to play UTEP back in November of the 2011-12 season.

Since her return from injury against Huston-Tillotson on Jan. 10, Pugh has made her free throws count. In three games since her return, she has gone 11-for-13 from the line, including perfect 4-for-4 and 3-for-3 performances last weekend against NJIT and Chicago State, respectively. She leads the team with a 78 percentage.

UTPA (8-12, 1-1 GWC) lost to visiting NJIT, 41-40, on Jan. 21, snapping the Lady Broncs' four-game winning streak.

Bianca Torre led UTPA with 14 points, as she hit four 3-pointers in the game. She also had two assists and four steals. Donna Jackson recorded nine points and seven rebounds. Adanna Opara came off the bench to score six points, grab eight rebounds and dish out three assists.

Rayven Johnson led NJIT with 13 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Melanie Griffin with 10 points. Uju Nwankwo came off the bench to grab eight rebounds and block three shots.

Torre and LaQuita Garner are tied for the team lead with 10.3 ppg, while Torre is averaging 17.3 ppg in conference play. Jackson and Opara are tops with 6.4 rpg apiece. Torre leads with 66 assists, while Jackson leads with 40 steals.
