Freshman running back Ismail Mahdi had 24 carries for 172 yards, the third-most in school history and most by a running back, with a touchdown and also had two catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Murphy, Texas, native scored on a 74-yard screen pass and a 78-yard run. Mahdi was named the Stats Perform FedEx Ground National Freshman Player of the Week and the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
