DESTIN, Fla. – The HCU men's golf team closed out its first tournament of 2026-27 on Wednesday afternoon, tying for 10
th place in a 14 team field at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic hosted by Texas State at Sandestin Resort & Club.
Junior
Robert Gonzalez posted a one-under-par round on Wednesday to move up into a tie for 18
th place with a three-round total of 210 (71-70-69).
Rhett Turner ended the three-day event with a score of 213 (68-71-74) to tie for 28
th while
Cooper Camp came in just two strokes back, tying for 37
th with a 215 (71-73-71).
Hudson Hobbs finished out the tournament with a 221 (70-72-79) while
Tyler Joines shot a three-round 226 (74-70-82).
The Huskies shot a collective 856 (280-283-293) to tie for 10
th overall. As a team, HCU averaged 3.03 strokes on par threes for the tournament and finished with 42 birdies, sixth-best among the field.
The Huskies will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22, in Houston at the Rice Bayou City Collegiate Classic held at Westwood Golf Club.
