HOUSTON, Texas – HCU men's golf placed 10
th overall with junior
Robert Gonzalez just missing out on an individual top-10 finish at the Rice Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted at Westwood Golf Club as teams resumed play on round two and completed the third and final round on Tuesday.
Gonzalez led HCU, finishing the tournament three-under-par with a three-round total of 213 (68-74-71) to tie for 11
th place. Freshman
Rhett Turner closed out play tied for 40
th individually with a five-over-par 221 (75-71-75). Senior
Cooper Camp wrapped up play with a 226 (74-75-77) to tie for 65
th while
Daniel Rice finished with a score of 228 (72-77-79). Playing as an individual,
Tyler Joines carded a 232 (77-78-77) with
Hudson Hobbs right behind him with a 233 (78-78-77).
As a team, the Huskies finished the tournament in 10
th place out of the 13-team field. HCU totaled a +22 score of 886 (289-297-300). The Huskies led all teams in pars over the course of the event, with 175.
HCU will be off next week before traveling back to Florida for the West Bay Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast, in Estero, Fla. at the West Bay Club on Oct. 5-6.
