SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Houston Christian women's golf team closed out its 2025-26 season on Wednesday, finishing in second place at the 2026 Southland Conference Championship at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas. The Huskies posted a final-round 2-over par to finish the 54-hole championship at 5-over, falling just one shot short of UTRGV, which claimed the team title at 4-over.
Despite the narrow finish, the day belonged to
Sara Pihlajamaki, who delivered a brilliant final round to claim the individual championship. The Finland native carded a 2-under 70 on Wednesday to finish the tournament at 5-under par, winning the individual title outright. Pihlajamaki was the best player in the field across all three rounds, posting scores of 69-72-70 to stand alone atop the individual leaderboard at the end of play.
Alyssa Stewart had a steady final round as well, shooting a 2-over 74 to close the championship at even par for the tournament, finishing second individually. Stewart's consistent 54-hole performance was a major factor in Houston Christian's strong showing throughout the week.
Natcha Makmanee had arguably her best round of the championship on Wednesday, carding an even-par 72 to finish the tournament at 4-over. The strong final round helped her climb to ninth place in the individual standings.
Alejandra Ferrer also posted a 2-over 74 in the final round, finishing the championship at 6-over and 10th individually.
Hailey Hendershott had a tough final round, shooting a 7-over 79 to close at 13-over for the tournament, finishing 26th individually.
